Neuropathy Treatment

Neuropathy
can be treated!

We understand that neuropathy can be challenging to live with and we have a complete protocol for your treatment.

Below, you will find description of each of the treatments we provide.

There is a connection between diet and peripheral neuropathy.  Towards the bottom of this page are some FREE low carb meal ideas. You may download the PDF to your computer. Once you have downloaded the PDF, you will able to click on the links for the meal plan websites.

Lastly, at the end of this page is another PDF that provides additional  information regarding alternative treatments for peripheral neuropathy. You may download this PDF as well,  and then click on each link for more information on topics listed.

PLEASE NOTE: With each treatment listed below, if the FIRST WORD is underlined, it will take you to an outside link for more information on that topic.

We are here to help you with your peripheral neuropathy and provide you with the opportunity to start enjoying life again!

Need more information about peripheral neuropathy?

Below is a great link from the Mayo Clinic  that describes the different forms of neuropathy.

Hako Med, invented by the pioneer of electrical stimulation, uniquely targets a body-produced chemical called cyclic adenosine monophosphate (cAMP)—with a lowercase "c". cAMP facilitates pain signal transmission and is depleted when exposed to 4000 Hz. Unlike typical electrical stimulation devices operating at 250 Hz, Hako Med functions at 4000 Hz. This enhances membrane permeability, boosting sodium and potassium channel function and promoting nerve healing.

Red to near-infrared LEDs have been shown to promote mitochondrial oxidative metabolism.

Red light therapy will be done at the same time as the Hako-med therapy and is a mild warm sensation. Promoting vasodilation will help trigger healing of your peripheral nerves.

Class IV laser in our office has a dual beam. These laser wavelengths must be very specific  in order to elicit a healing response. Our laser works at 810 and 980 wave length to not only help reduce pain but also to simulate mitochondria to speed up the Krebs cycle (chemical process where you turn food into energy in the cell)  and produce more ATP which is energy. This increased ATP output helps with energy for healing damaged tissue.

is used to stimulate your peripheral nerves. Many people that suffer from peripheral neuropathy suffer from poor balance due to lack of sensation in the feet. Vibration therapy seeks to stimulate vibration input to the brain.

Manual Soft Tissue Work

Your care will include manual hands-on soft tissue work. The muscles around your spine are what hold your spinal bony  segments in proper position. Soft tissue work can include, cupping and tool soft tissue scraping techniques to help eliminate muscle knots. These adhesions and muscle knots are what can prevent you from making a full recovery as it can limit full range of motion of the joint.

Lumbar Decompression

Lumbar decompression is used to open up the spacing between the vertebra to provide relief from compressed nerve roots. Decompression will be used only if it is discovered that your neuropathy is originating from your lower back. This table will open up the spacing between your vertebra to allow for improved nerve communication between your brain and legs.

A nutrition plan is essential for your success with neuropathy treatment. If your peripheral neruopathy is due to being diabetic, it is essential that you take an active role with your diet and limit the amount of refined sugar and simple carbohydrates. You will be guided on this and will be given instruction and help on how to adjust your diet to help with your recovery.

Exercise

A simple exercise plan will also be prescribed for you. This will help to acomplish not only getting your blood moving in your lower legs but also to help work on your balance. Many people that suffer from peripheral neuropathy suffer from a loss of balance.

Balance testing will be part of your exam. Many people that suffer from peripheral neuropathy are not aware of how off balance they really are! Sensation has faded slowly over time and this results in a high fall risk and potential injury. You will go thru the balance system in your exam to determine your fall risk.
